Nommé jeudi à la présidence du Comité national de gestion (Cng) de la lutte, le Kaolackois Ibrahima Sene plus connu sous le surnom de Bira succède au Dr Alioune Sarr. Une consécration pour cet enseignant à la retraite, pris par le virus du sport en général, la lutte en particulier.
L’ascension d’Ibrahima Sène «Bira» aux commandes de la lutte au Sénégal, est tout sauf le fait du hasard pour ses proches avec lesquels il a trusté les plus hautes fonctions du championnat national populaire de football, communément appelé «navétane». De secrétaire général de son Asc de quartier l’Union fraternelle des Abattoirs de Ndangane (Ufan), il gravit progressivement tous les échelons au niveau local à Kaolack. Un engagement et une abnégation qui sont, selon Cheikh Tidiane Mbengue, son ami d’enfance, des traits de caractères marquants du successeur du Dr Alioune Sarr à la tête du Comité national de gestion (Cng) de lutte.
«On est entré à l’école élémentaire de Ndangane le même jour. En dehors du fait qu’il soit un ami d’enfance, on a milité ensemble dans le mouvement sportif tant au sein de l’Odcav de Kaolack et du Comité national de gestion (Crg) de lutte dont il est le président depuis 2004. Ibrahima Séne dit «Bira» est donc en terrain connu, d’autant qu’il a la proximité de beaucoup d’anciens ténors de l’arène auxquels il a donné l’opportunité de s’illustrer lors des tournois de l’Ufan qui ont révélé les Tyson, Yékini entre autres lutteurs», témoigne ce proche de toujours. Passé par les «navétane», Bira Séne, piqué par le virus du sport après trois ans à la tête de l’instance départementale va côtoyer le milieu de la lutte. Il est élu à la présidence du Comité départemental de gestion (Cdg) de Kaolack en 1994, avant de se hisser à l’échelon régional six ans plus tard.
Un engagement sportif mené parallèlement avec un parcours professionnel démarré dans l’Est du Sénégal après une formation à l’école normale William Ponty. «C’est un enseignant émérite, qui a fait l’unanimité partout où il est passé. Il s’est ensuite consacré à la planification et jusqu’à sa retraite en 2018, il était le président des planificateurs de l’éducation. Donc, son leadership n’est pas circonscrit au seul mouvement navétane», précise Sémou Diouf, un autre de ses proches également enseignant. Des proches qui sont persuadés que le nouveau patron de la lutte est capable de répondre aux attentes des acteurs de ce sport traditionnel qui a subi de plein fouet la pandémie de la Covid-19.
«Diriger aujourd’hui la lutte, de manière générale celle avec frappe, est loin d’être une sinécure. Au-delà de la feuille de route fixée par le ministère des Sports, le plus grand défi pour lui est de réunir la grande famille de cette discipline. Son expérience en tant que président du Crg de Kaolack et d’ancien promoteur peut-être un atout pour lui, sans compter ses relations personnelles avec d’anciens et de jeunes champions de l’arène», estime Cheikh Tidiane Mbengue, ami de toujours de Bira Séne et trésorier du Crg de Kaolack. Autre chantier de taille, souligne-t-il, «convaincre les promoteurs et les sponsors de l’attrait et de la popularité de la discipline pour les pousser à s’y investir». Selon lui, «tout cela ne pourra se faire sans un environnement apaisé et un retour des amateurs après la crise sanitaire».
Reste pour cet enseignant dans l’âme de déployer ses compétences pédagogiques pour réconcilier les acteurs de la lutte écartelés entre rébellion dans les écuries et désaffection des sponsors en passant par la grève retentissante des arbitres.
